Borrowed Light - Experimental Sound Workshop and Performance
Commissioned by More Art, Borrowed Light is the first public-art project to be exhibited in Brooklyn’s Sunset Park. Working with the Parks Department, I recorded fauna native to the park and composed a soundscape built into a sculptural environment.
The project culminated in an experimental sound and music workshop co-led by myself and composer Eli Keszler. In the workshop natural materials collected from the park, such as leaves, sand, twigs and stones were used together with contact microphones and sound tables. A series of musical vignettes were woven into a live performance and layered over the piece, using the sculpture as stage-set and the soundtrack as an aural readymade.
